Peace Nook

Non-profit, volunteer-staffed store & resource center featuring books, magazines, Fair Trade imports, jewelry, gifts, natural foods, body products, cards, posters, T-shirts, incense, buttons, stickers & more.

The Peace Nook is a non-profit store and community resource center operated by Mid-Missouri Peaceworks, with all proceeds supporting our educational work to promote peace, social justice, sustainability, and a liveable climate.

Since its founding in 1990, the Peace Nook has operated with primarily volunteer staffing, involving and training many hundreds of people of all ages and backgrounds. The Nook serves as an activism hub, providing information on issues and access to a wide variety of groups working for a brighter, more peaceful and just future.  Our facility also provides for a meeting space and we frequently host classes here.

The Peace Nook offers a wide variety of products relevant to our mission, including books, magazines, Fair Trade imports, jewelry, gifts, natural foods, body products, cards, posters, T-shirts, incense, buttons, stickers and much more. The Nook is Columbia’s original Fair Trade store, offering imports produced under sustainable, labor-friendly conditions ever since 1990.

We are located in a basement, but have a street level entrance in the rear, on Alley A. Our regular hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 12 noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. During the cold winter months, however, we cut back evening hours and close at 6 p.m. daily.
