Hinkson Creek Trail


4.25 mile trail with accesses located at Capen Park, Grindstone Nature Area, and MU Rec Trail.


Trail – 4.25 miles, (2 miles – City portion, 2.25 miles MU portion), limestone

Trail Accesses – City property:

  • Capen Park, 1600 Capen Park Dr.
  • Grindstone Nature Area, 2011 Old 63 South

Trail Accesses – MU Rec Trail, University of Missouri property:

  • Student Recreation Center (parking at Turner Avenue Garage or Hitt Street Visitor Parking)
  • Hearnes Center/Memorial Stadium, 600 Stadium Blvd.

  • Hinkson Creek Recreation Area

The Hinkson Creek Trail project is the result of a unique partnership between the City of Columbia and the University of Missouri. The trail connects Grindstone Park to the MKT Trail near Chapel Hill Road. The City of Columbia’s portion of the trail is 2.0 miles, beginning at Grindstone Nature Area, thru Capen Park, and connecting to the Hinkson Creek Recreation Area on the University of Missouri Campus. The University of Missouri’s portion of the trail is 2.25 miles, extending from the City’s portion of the Hinkson Creek Trail to the MKT Trail at the 2 mile marker.
