TYRPS - Theatre Reaching Young People & Schools.
A professional theater for families and young people. They offer four, kid-friendly shows a year, plus classes for Pre-K through Grade 9. LIVE AT ELEVEN, is a free activity the first Saturday of each month at the Columbia Public Library. For more information, call 449-4536, or visit. Theatre Reaching Young People & Schools.

Maplewood Barn Community Theatre (MBCT).
Outdoor productions under the stars on the grounds of the Maplewood Home at Nifong Park located near Hwy 63 at AC. Columbia Entertainment Company (CEC).

Summer Fun for All Ages
9:00 a.m. Arrive at Shelter Gardens, 1817 W. Broadway. (573/445-8441) Visit at a one-room school house, a giant sundial, waterfall, goldfish pools, and more.
9:30 a.m. Depart

9:45 a.m. Arrive MU Campus, North 8th & Elm Street. (Visitor Relations, 573/882-6333) Visit Historic Francis Quadrangle at the University of Missouri and site of the MU Columns. Visit the Museum of Art and Archaeology and the Museum of Anthropology. Both museums have special features that kids like - from mummified animals - to American Indian artifacts, and a replica of a settlers cabin.

10:45 a.m. Depart MU

10:55 p.m. Arrive at the Candy Factory, 7th & Cherry (573/443-8222).
Stop at Central Missouri’s only old fashioned candy shop where chocolates are made fresh. The shop has gift items for all ages and candies of all kinds. You can also go upstairs to see “Candy Land” like paintings and the cooking kitchens. If you call ahead, you can find out the best time to watch the chocolate enrober and see chocolate being molded into special shapes.

11:55 a.m. Lunch Time!
May we suggest a downtown location in The District? Maybe a place where kids get free dough to play with and can watch pizzas being made. 1:15 p.m. Depart Restaurant

1:30 p.m. Arrive MKT Trailhead Park & M.L. King Jr. Memorial Gardens just off Stadium Boulevard. (573/874-7460) Columbia’s MKT spur connects downtown Columbia to the Katy Trail State Park. The King Memorial Gardens includes an amphitheater and sculptures featuring the writings of Dr. King. Enjoy a walk or bike ride on the tree-lined MKT Trail.
2:00 p.m. Depart King Gardens

2:15 p.m Arrive at Twin Lakes Recreation Area., 2500 Chapel Hill Rd. (573/874-7460
or 573/445-8839) Spend the afternoon at the fishing lake or splashing in the 6-acre swimming lake that features a deck, diving platform, water slide and sand beach. Young children can enjoy the Little Mates Cove, a special water playground with filtered, chlorinated water.
3:30 p.m. Depart Twin Lakes

3:45 p.m. Time for ice cream Buck’s Ice Cream Parlor on the MU Campus, 573/882-4100. One of Columbia’s best kept secrets, Buck’s is located on the southeast corner of College & Rollins in Eckles Hall. Here, the MU Food Science Department makes and serves some of the best ice cream and yogurt to be found - Tiger Stripe ice cream, a rich vanilla swirled with chocolate fudge is a Columbia favorite! Summer Hours: Mon. - Sat, Noon - 5:00 p.m.
