Check out the inner workings of opens in a new windowColumbia City Hall’s newest resident, Lumen! Officially dedicated last week, Lumen the robot was the mascot for the opens in a new window‘Ragtag Needs Robots’ Kickstarter campaign last year, which raised tens of thousands of dollars to help the local independent filmhouse convert to digital projectors.
With the campaign a rousing success, Ragtag and Lumen’s creator, Greg Orloff, have donated Lumen to the City’s Office of Cultural Affairs and he now holds permanent residence in the Visitors Center in the City Hall lobby. This beautiful piece of art truly demonstrates Columbia’s commitment to the arts.
In our new Columbia Snapshot posts, we feature photos from around Columbia captured by our staff or by our readers to share little corners of our city that you might not always see.
This week’s photo is of one of the colorful and vibrant menu boards at opens in a new windowMain Squeeze Natural Foods Cafe in downtown Columbia. One of Columbia’s few completely vegetarian restaurant options, Main Squeeze is a haven for diners who like fresh, locally sourced, healthy and delicious meal options.
One of our favorite boards is home to the array of smoothie choices at Main Squeeze! Each creatively named smoothie is full of freshly blended fruit, juices and any other add-ins you request. Our personal favorite is the Berry Berry Good, but you really can’t go wrong with any of the selections. Make sure to pair your smoothie with one of their organic hot dishes, melt-in-your-mouth sandwiches or outstanding handmade desserts. No matter what you pick, your stomach will thank you!
