Junot Diaz will be the featured speaker at the University of Missouri’s 2018 Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration. In 2008 Diaz won the Pulitzer Prize for his book, “The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao,” which provides a window into the immigrant experience. Diaz and his family emigrated from Dominican Republic when he was six, and much of his writing and activism gives a voice to immigrant experiences and struggles. Diaz has also been active in mentoring and promoting writers of color as co-founder of the Voices of Our National Arts Foundation.
This event is free and open to the public. Tickets are required to attend the event but are free of charge and available at Missouri Theatre and the MU Student Center’s MSA/GPC box offices.
