The Tempest

The Tempest is set on a remote island, where Prospero, rightful Duke of Milan, has become a powerful magician. He plots to restore his son Miran to his rightful place using illusion and skillful manipulation. He conjures up a storm, the eponymous tempest, to cause his usurping sister Antonia and the complicit King Alonso of Naples to believe they are shipwrecked and marooned on the island. There, his machinations bring about the revelation of Antonia’s lowly nature, the redemption of the King, and the marriage of Miran to Alonso’s daughter, Fernanda.
