Latin Jazz icon Eddie Palmieri, who was born in Harlem to Puerto Rican parents and raised in the Bronx, is considered by one and all in the know as the reigning patriarch of Afro-Latin music in the United States.
After 15 years, Palmieri makes his long-awaited return to the Jazz Series. Having become an octogenarian within the last year, Mr. Palmieri’s tour is aptly subtitled: “Eddie @ 80” and he’s accompanied by some of Latin jazz’s best known souls in his “Classic Septet.”
Produced in association with the Citizen Jane Film Festival as part of the 2017/2018 Dr. Carlos Perez-Mesa Memorial Concert, the opportunity to see NEA Jazz Master, Maestro Palmieri, still one of today’s most influential and exciting performers, should not be missed!
