Concerts in the Gardens

The 43rd season of Shelter’s annual Concerts in the Gardens series is officially in session!

Upcoming performances of the Concerts in the Gardens series feature the following groups:

June 16 — Missouri Symphony Orchestra with Maestro Kirk Trevor
June 23 — Columbia Community Band
June 30 — C. Rock City

Intermission:  There will be no performance on Sunday, July 7

July 14 — Ironweed & Swampweed (Blue Grass and Cajun music)
July 21 — Banana Oil Pan Band
July 28 — Margaret Bianchetta and Bags Fly Free featuring Lisa Rose on Saxophone

Each summer, the Sunday evening shows typically draw crowds of 1,000 or more music lovers to the Shelter Insurance Gardens, where well-groomed, colorful flora offset a cedar concert gazebo. The events evoke nostalgia for a time gone by, when traditional summer outside band concerts were a regular thing in smaller communities.

Each show is free and starts at 7 p.m., Sundays, in the Shelter Insurance Gardens. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs for seating. Shelter Insurance Gardens are at the northwest corner of Shelter’s Home Office grounds at 1817 W. Broadway in Columbia, Missouri.
